Meet your dentist
Thirty-five years,
one town,
one building.
Dr. Peter Patellis grew up in southern Chester County, came back to it after dental school, and has been treating families from the same practice on North Union Street since 1989. The implant credentials came later, and they kept coming.

Curriculum vitae
Peter Patellis,
D.M.D., FMIII, DICOI
Implants · full-arch · CEREC and CAD-CAM restoration
Dr. Peter Patellis earned his D.M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1989 and completed a post-graduate general residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. He has been treating families across Chester County ever since — the same practice, the same town, for more than thirty-five years.
The implant work rests on a specific line of training. He is a Fellow of the Misch International Implant Institute and, since April 2010, a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists — the ICOI’s highest tier of recognition, from an organization with more than 25,000 members worldwide. He now teaches at the Resnik Implant Institute, the Misch Institute’s successor.
Beyond implants he has studied at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and the Dawson Institute, holds advanced training in IV conscious sedation anesthesia and emergency medical procedures, and is recognized nationally for CEREC and CAD-CAM dentistry. He has also served on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

Why implants specifically
The training went deeper than the average.
Most general dentists who place implants have taken a course. Dr. Patellis went through the Misch International Implant Institute — the program founded by Dr. Carl Misch, whose textbooks a generation of implant dentists learned from — and came out a Fellow.
In April 2010 he was awarded Diplomate status by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. The ICOI has more than 25,000 members across 65 affiliate societies worldwide, and Diplomate is the highest of its three recognition tiers.
He now teaches at the Resnik Implant Institute, the Misch Institute’s successor, and previously served on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Beyond implants
The rest of the training.
York Hospital residency
A post-graduate general residency in Pennsylvania after dental school — hospital dentistry, medically complex patients, and the emergencies that do not read the textbook.
IV conscious sedation
Advanced training in IV conscious sedation anesthesia and emergency medical procedures, which is why anxious patients are treated as a planning problem here rather than a personality trait.
CEREC and CAD-CAM
Recognized nationally for CEREC and CAD-CAM dentistry — the design and milling side of the job, which is what decides how an implant crown actually looks in the mouth.
The Dawson Institute
Post-graduate study in occlusion and complete-mouth reconstruction — how a bite is organized, which is the difference between a restoration that lasts and one that keeps breaking.
Las Vegas Institute
Post-graduate work at LVI, the cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry program.
Penn Dental faculty
Former faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
The practice
208 North Union Street.
A converted colonial building in the middle of Kennett Square, with the same team in it for years.
Southern Chester County
He is from here.
Dr. Patellis has roots in southern Chester County, is married with a family of four, and spends what free time there is at the beach or sailing.
Longevity matters more in dentistry than in most professions, because the work you did fifteen years ago is still in the patient’s mouth and they can still find you. Most of the families who came in during the early years are still on the books.
Start with an exam and a straight answer.
A consultation includes an examination, 3D imaging and a written, itemized plan. If implants are not the right treatment for you, Dr. Patellis will say so and tell you what is.
